I include one of my stoppers at no charge with the purchase of my kiln carved recycled glass bottle servers. I revel in the pure enjoyment clients show when they find just the right pairing!
Here is a bit about my process:
I create the glass adornments using the ancient glass kiln casting technique of pate de verre in my handcrafted molds. My molds are all created from my original clay sculptures. I draw inspiration for each design from my beautiful surroundings in the Pacific Northwest. Once the mold is complete, multiple layers of custom mixed colors of glass paste are firmly packed into each cavity. The paste is made from crushed glass mixed with a binding agent. My designs are all inspired from nature so I strive to mix colors that are most true & natural.
After the glass & binding agent have hardened, I gently de-mold and kiln fire. The firing process takes about 20 hours.
Once fired and cooled I permanently affix the glass to a premium metal wine stopper.
